Book Tag: Christmas Cracker

Hi everyone!

We're back with the book tags, and I'm very happy about it. As this month is December I thought it was only right that we do a Christmas themed tag - and I scoured the internet and found the Christmas Cracker book tag. I honestly really struggle with themed book tags like this because it never actually relates to my experiences in Australia! The first question, for instance, is talking about winter but all we have here is endless heat. But anyway, let's get started!

Find a book with a winter-y cover
So I just assumed I was looking for a cover with snow on it (which was really hard by the way!) but I managed to find one and that's Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepetys.

Pick a book you are likely to buy as a present
I kind of struggled (although not really) because if I was buying a book for someone I would like to tailor it to their specific interests. Picking a general one is super difficult, but I think a book like The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak would make a lovely present.

Pick a festive themed book
I struggled with this hard-core because I don't think that I've ever read a Christmas-specific book in my life. There was that one John Green book which he had stories with other people in it, but I wouldn't say that. Honestly, I think I have to say Harry Potter. That series, especially the first couple, just always seem to have the magical Christmas spirit in them.

Pick a book you can curl up with by the fireplace
First of all, I wish I had a fireplace for reading at in a comfy arm chair. But secondly, that would be absolutely disgustingly hot in here so I don't think so. I'm going to change the question to lounging by the pool/at the beach, and the one I have chosen is The Devil Wears Prada by .... . A random choice, I know, but it's the book I read on schoolies and it will forever give me chilled out summer holiday vibes.

Pick a book you want to read over the festive period
I hate making TBRs because I can never decided in advance what I want to read and to be honest there's not really that much time left in the festive period. I think I would like to read a classic like Pride and Prejudice before the end of the year though.

Pick a book that's so good it gives you chills
I could have picked so many, but if its giving me chills I cannot say anything but Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepetys.

Pick a book going on your Christmas list
I read Les Miserables a few years ago now but I've been stuck with an awful movie cover so I've asked to get a nicer edition for Christmas. Fingers crossed I get it - it will look so lovely on my bookshelf!

Shawn Mendes

Hi everyone!

On the 29th of November, I had one of my most anticipated events of the year - my Shawn Mendes concert! It was held at the Entertainment Centre in Brisbane which I had never driven to before but it turned out to be super easy and we got there with zero dramas (possibly a record for Kiara and I).

We were pretty early (and hungry) so we sat in the car and ate cheese and bacon buns, and took the few obligatory selfies.

We then made it inside but had to wait aaages again, so Kiara went and bought us some ridiculously overpriced drinks and did some hardcore people watching to pass the time. (Kiara also took this photo of our tickets which she described as "artsy")

Peter Pan Ballet

Hi everyone!

In amongst all the craziness that I mentioned in my A-Z Book Tag the other day, I took Kiara to go and see a ballet for her Birthday. It was a little hard to choose what to see if I'm being honest, but I eventually picked Peter Pan because it was a story I knew and loved and so we would both enjoy it.
It was put on by the Queensland Ballet Company and the artistic director was Li Cunxin, who, judging by Kiara's reaction, is a pretty big deal. I think he was the guy from Mao's Last Dancer? Not entirely sure though - so don't yell at me if I'm wrong!

I thought the ballet was really good though, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. I think my favourite bit though was when they flew across the stage. I knew they flew in the story but I definitely was not expecting it to happen and it looked spectacular! The dancing was fantastic, and the costumes were all really cool. I would definitely recommend going to the ballet if you get a chance, it's an amazing experience.

I wore the same thing I did at the ball a few weeks ago, which I mentioned here (and managed to actually take a picture of my hair!) Kiara's dress is actually from Boohoo of all places and if you wanted to check it out, here it is. There was a limited time between Kiara's Birthday and when we went, so I had to be so sneaky buying her this dress and passing it off as a random purchase!
